The website of Kerala Tourism has won the national award for deploying the latest advances in Information Technology for marketing.
Bolstered by the award, yet another one to its swelling kitty in recent times, Kerala Tourism announced that it would roll out a new set of user-friendly mobile-based applications very soon.
Kerala Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar received the award instituted by the Union Tourism Ministry from President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday for the best website and portal, a Kerala Tourism release said.
“It underlines our constant efforts to innovate on the latest technology in this high-tech era so that we stay atop among the most favoured destinations of the country.
Continuing our drive in this direction, we are in the process of introducing a new set of user-friendly mobile-based applications that will be launched very soon,” the release quoting the Minister said.
The award-winning website (www.keralatourism.org) was designed and produced by Thiruvananthapuram-based Invis Multimedia.
Since the inception of the awards in 2001, Kerala has won it for a record fifth time.
“Kerala tourism website that won the award is a virtual online encyclopedia on Kerala with focus on travel-oriented content. It receives around 1.75 lakh visitors and 7-8 lakh page views every month. Rich with text and photographs of high quality, the website is currently available in English, Hindi, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Arabic and Chinese, besides the Malayalam version,” the release said.
